In addition to books and book chapterson the politics of representations in architecture andurban space, Koompong has published several research articleson critical studies of the built environmentandglobalcities. He has also lectured on these topics at a number ofacademicforumsoverseas. His seminal book, The Aesthetics of Power: Architecture, Modernity, and Identity from Siam to Thailand, was released in 2013.

His scholarly interests cover a wide range of topics, from Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Creative Economy, Art, Craft, and Cultural Studies. In Fall 2010 Chaturong was appointed an assistant professor and Head of the Department of Architectural and Design Education. Chaturong has engaged in professional practices as an product designer and Product development consultant. In addition to his academic career, he has been designing medical equipment and consumer product during the last fifteen years.
