King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang (KMITL) Ladkrabang, Thailand FOUNDER


is an associate professor of architectural education at KMITL. He earned his B.S. in Architecture from the University of San Augustin, Philippines, and M.Arch. from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. His scholarly interests range from architecture and culture, urban and rural planning, creative economy, design pedagogy, to vernacular arts and crafts. At present, Surasak is directing a series of multi-disciplinary researches and strategic models for UNESCO World Heritage Site in Sukhothai, Si Satchanalai, and Kamphang Phet. Apart from his academic career, he is a licensed architect with extensive experience in professional practice and working on a massive number of projects in which his work received many international awards.

He won a scholarship from theRoyal Thai Government to pursue his M.Arch. and Ph.D. inDesign and Planning (Architectural History, Theory,and Criticism) at the University of Colorado, U.S.A. In addition to books and book chapterson the politics of representations in architecture andurban space, Koompong has published several research articleson critical studies of the built environmentandglobalcities. He has also lectured on these topics at a number ofacademicforumsoverseas. His seminal book, The Aesthetics of Power: Architecture, Modernity, and Identity from Siam to Thailand, was released in 2013.

currently serves as an associate professor at King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Teaches in the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels.He held a B.S.Id.Ed.in Industrial Design from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang .Chaturong received both his M.Ed.in Educational Technology and Ed.D. in Educational Technology from Srinakharinwirot University. His scholarly interests cover a wide range of topics, from Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Creative Economy, Art, Craft, and Cultural Studies. In Fall 2010 Chaturong was appointed an assistant professor and Head of the Department of Architectural and Design Education. Chaturong has engaged in professional practices as an product designer and Product development consultant. In addition to his academic career, he has been designing medical equipment and consumer product during the last fifteen years.

He earned B.A. from California State University Northridge, USA, M.ID in Industrail Design from Rhode Island School of Design, USA and Ph.D. in Art and Design Education from The Pennsylvania State University, USA, After his graduation, Apisak has become a lecturer at KMITL, teaching various subjects in product design both in undergraduate and graduate levels. He holds scholarly interests on computer-aided design, design management, Art Education and information technology, which have been integrated with his research projects and pedagogical expertise. Apart from the academic career, Apisak has engaged in professional practices as an product designer and Product development consultant.

Saengratwatchara, Ph.D.,

received a B.S. in Geography from Chiang Mai University before winning a scholarship from the Royal Thai Government to study abroad. He earned another B.S. in Interior Design and M.S. in Human Environmentsfrom Utah State University, following by a Ph.D. in Human Environments (Design and Management) from Michigan State University, U.S.A.After his graduation, Supornchaihas become a lecturer at KMITL, teaching various subjects inenvironmental design both in undergraduate and graduate levels. He holdsscholarlyinterests on computer-aided design, construction management, and information technology, particularly onbuilding information modeling (BIM), which have been integrated with his research projects and pedagogical expertise. Apart from the academic career, Supornchaihas engaged in professional practices as an interior designerand BIM consultant.

She has also worked as a researcher for four years, and has covered interesting research topics such as a study on ‘Participatory development of the local community’ and conducted creative research on the ‘Sustainable promotion and conservation of the old community; a case study: Ranong Province.’ She was born in Ranong, has lived in Ranongandexperienced the beauty of the environment, landscape, climate, architecture and culture. This was a prototype project created with the participation of local people and researchers to facilitate the creative design of a unique, engaging urban development. The objectives were to collect, study and analyze data of the urban area, architecture and culture in Ranong province in order to propose innovative urban development approaches.
